How We're Planning KR Catfish: Fresh, Fast-Growing, and Flavorful
A semi-recirculating catfish system is planned for our second site at Ebubu-Egbalor — still in the design stage, with nothing stocked yet. Here's the thinking behind it.
Catfish is a staple in Nigerian cuisine, and it's the next enterprise on our roadmap. A semi-recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) is planned for our second site at Ebubu-Egbalor — we're still at the design stage, and nothing is stocked yet.
Water You Can Trust
The system is designed around filtered, oxygen-rich water that mimics natural habitats while preventing disease.
Fast-Growing, Naturally
The plan is to reach market size faster through optimised feeding schedules and stress-free tank conditions — without hormone use.
Balanced, Nutrient-Rich Feed
High-protein feed blends are planned to support healthy growth, rich flavour, and firm texture.
Zero-Antibiotic Policy
As with our other livestock, catfish will be raised without antibiotics, relying on preventive care and clean systems instead.
Why Semi-RAS
A semi-recirculating system reduces water waste and environmental impact while increasing yield per tank — the same discipline we apply across the farm.
The Ebubu-Egbalor site is designated for this alongside crops and processing, closing the loop with livestock manure. We'll share an update once the system is built and stocked.
